                                                      REFLECTION 9

Hello everyone, here comes my final reflection that I’m going to update in my blog. I’m very happy that I able to complete my reflections, forums, assignments and mock teaching on time. I hope I did well on my mock teaching in the classroom. I have tried my level best to make the class interesting. Eventhough, the activities are not that much interesting, I tried my level best to make the classroom fun by giving them some punishment.

So, the question for this final reflection is “which mock teaching you feel is the best? Pick one”. In my point of view, everyone did the best during the mock teaching in the classroom. I understand that everyone tried their best too in creating some interesting activities and games so that, each and everyone participate in the classroom.

Among the students, I like Hema’s mock teaching where she teach the students English language subject in the classroom.  The teaching style that she applied during the mock teaching in the classroom, made me to remember what she has taught us. I remember she taught us about nouns which divided into two. One will be concrete noun another one will be abstract noun.

The activity that she used in the classroom is really interesting. Those who picked in the classroom have to pick any of a letter from the magic box. Each of the letter will be written with either concrete noun or abstract noun. Once picked the letter, the student has to identify whether the word written in the paper is concrete noun or abstract noun. After that, the student has to create a sentence using the word which is already picked form the magic box. Those who answered the question have been rewarded after the class.

Lastly, this is one of the mock teaching which I wish to apply next time during the mock teaching in the classroom. This kind of teaching approach and activities able to attract students concentration in the classroom, Alas, the students will be able to participate actively in the classroom.

That’s all from me for today. Thank you and have a nice day everyone J

                                                         REFLECTION 8

Hi everyone, I’m back! I feel so relief when I have already done with my assignments, and some other practices. It was a very stressful and hectic week for me. I don’t know how, but thanked god I have done with all those of my assignments on time.

Today, I am going to update my blog with my new reflection which it will be reflection 8. The topic for reflection 8 will be narrating my learning experiences in preparing for mock teaching. I did my mock teaching by choosing Mathematics subject that is the subject that I’m going to choose for teaching in the future. I have choosed Mathematics subject from chapter 6 which it will ALGEBRAIC EXPRESSIONS III (form 3)

During the mock teaching, as an educator I have prepared powerpoint slides for teaching purposes. I have prepared a few number of slides using powerpoint slides because I don’t prefer putting so much of slides in the powerpoint. Students might feel too bored or tired looking at the slides. I do also prepare the slides with the suitable size of fonts, types of fonts and the background as well.

Other than that, I have prepared a lesson plan about what I’m going to teach the students the whole 30 minutes. Lesson plan should be included with learning objectives and learning outcomes. I have listed down what the students is going to learn and what they have learned on that particular day. Other than that, I have also stated the duration that break it into certain parts.

Next, I have also prepared the handouts for the students which will be known as an activity for the students to participate actively in the classroom. At this part, I have brought up the students into only three groups where each group will be having one leader or a representative for the particular group. They will be given the medium of questions that they are going to attend which it will be easy level, medium level and hard level for the students to attend. The last group that finished attending the questions will be punished, from that moment each of everyone have to cooperate with each other.

Lastly, what I have experiences is we have to manage our time in preparing the lesson plan in future when we have been a teacher for students. It is advisable to have some interesting games or activities in the classroom so that, the students won’t be feeling bored or sleepy in the classroom. As a teacher, we have to seat and think in preparing the slides, notes and handouts. Thank you!

REFLECTION 7

Hi everyone! Here comes my reflection 7. I’m really waiting eagerly to complete all of my reflections as soon as possible. As time passed, I’m already move on to this point.  As a responsible student, I have to push myself since no one is going to do it for me. We should always plan well whatever have to be done on time.

Question for this week will be: If you are the classroom teacher, how many rules will you enforce. List and explain the purpose of the enforced rules. Rules is always an important principle or instruction which serves as a norm for guiding of an action or behavior of a student in the classroom. If there is no any rules in the classroom, as a teacher it would be very hard to control the students and the situation in the classroom.

Let me move on to the answer. The rules that I will enforce in the classroom are:

    a)      Listen to teacher and others- Students should always listen to teacher before they start answer any of the question. When the students focus more in the classroom during the lecture time, students will be able to listen carefully and can gain the informations very clearly.

    b)      Fully focus in the classroom and don’t disturb others- Students should not disturb others during the lesson time, teacher and the other will be distracted easily. When the others have been distracted, they will miss the lesson or topic of the day.

    c)       Keep the class tidy- Clean and tidy and environment is always important for the students so that they feel so comfortable and fully focus in the classroom without any problem. Sometimes, untidy classroom can distract the students from concentrating in the classroom.

   d)      Raise up hand before speaking- The students should know the ethics on how to ask, answer or speak in the classroom during the lesson time. Students should know when to speak and when do not speak. This is not to interrupt in the classroom or distract the lesson in the classroom.

Well, this is all about my reflection for today and this is rules that I really want the students to follow in the classroom. Concentration is the first priority that students should give in the classroom. This to avoid the students from missing the chapter or lesson of the day. The whole class should be cooperative with the teacher so that, he or she can finish the lesson on time. Thank you!

                                                        REFLECTION 6

I AM BACK AGAIN!!! I know I’m very stressful these few days. I don’t know how to manage my time to complete all my work on time. But, I will definitely try my best once again to complete all my work as soon as possible. Here I would like to post my next reflection which will be “What I have discovered this week?” The question is similar to last week, So I won’t be a big problem for me to answer this question.

This week, Madam Ng gave us an article entitle “Navigating the Bumpy Road to Student-Centred Instruction (SCI) I will shortly describe about student-centred and also student-centred instruction. In my point of view, teacher and students will work together in sharing ideas and knowledge. Students will participate in the classroom when the teacher gives activities and exercises. From that moment, students will learn a lot on how to solve problems and brainstorm theirself in participating in class activity. Moreover, students can also improve their communicating skills with the teacher by this student-centred approach. But, I am very happy whoever use this student-centred approach in their classroom because the students be able to learn more and remember what they have studied earlier.

Student-centred instruction will be a teaching strategy that fundamentally breaks many of the traditional boundaries governing the manner. This SCI approach calls for student engagement and their personal responsibility. Student self-reliance is promoted through a variety of action-oriented instructional formats that either replace or support traditional lectures.

From this, students will be able to be collaborative with their team projects. Students can come out with their ideas and also mix up with their friend’s ideas to complete a successful project. Students can also be able to engage with the community and they can also improve their self- learning assignments as well. When the students engage with the community, they will be able to build up the confident level and they can speak well when they are at overseas with confidentially.

That’s all from me today for once again. Thank you! BYE EVERYBODY
