          REFLECTION 5

Hi everyone! Well, here comes my reflection 5. The topic will be about “what I have discovered this week?” At this part, I have to recall back whatever I’ve learned this whole week. In my opinion, this will be one of the way to make sure students to remember whatever they have studied previously. Okay, I really understand that everyone has their responsibilities in completing the tasks no matter it is about assignment, work or both itself. We as a student should manage our time well to complete the tasks that given to us. So, we should always give priorities to our responsibilities to avoid some unnecessary problems.

Now, I will move to question of the topic “what I have discovered this week?”. On last Tuesday, Madam Ng had given a task to reconstruct some exercise exercise handouts to the students. Madam gave us that task because she wants us to think as an educator to prepare some better handouts so that, the students can understand well. Other than that, educators in coming generation should think differently in order to avoid boredom among students who are going to complete the exercises given to them. There should be a right way on how to prepare some exercises for the students. The teacher should always check whether the questions given are:

-      Grammatically correct

-      The diagrams or pictures are clear enough.

-      There is no spelling error.

-      Space should be provided for the students to write their extra notes.

-      Provided with proper examples for the students to refer.

Madam Ng has discovered this lesson by contributing the handouts from Malay language, English language and also from Mathematics subjects. Once we have found the faults from the handouts, a leader from each of a group should snap it and send it to Madam Ng’s WhatsApp group of this Pedagogy subject. From this, the members from the other group should have to voice out their opinions.

On last Thursday, Madam Ng has taught us on how to prepare a PowerPoint slides for the students. It is advised to prepare a simple PowerPoint slides to teach students so that, they can understand very well. The teachers are also advised not to use cartoon images for the study purposes, they should use any of a proper image which is related to the subject as well. The teachers should not to prepare PowerPoint slides which make the students feel bored inside the classroom. Madam has also taught us to use better fonts like ARIAL or TIMES NEW ROMAN so that, the students can view it very clearly. Moreover, PowerPoint slides should be interesting to teach the students by that, they can remember what they have learned on that particular day.

That's all from me today. Bye everybody, have a very nice day :)

                                        REFLECTION 4

Well this week I didn’t attend the classes, so I didn’t have the chances to participate in the activities. Yet, my friends thought me on how to participate on those activities at home. I also tried those games and I felt it was really fun and amazing.
I tried Brainrush, it was really interesting and challenging as well as Kahoot. Both websites give such a outstanding challenges and I would like to create a game which is from Kahoot.com and it seems very fun and complicated. I created the game using my own lesson plan.

LESSON PLAN FOR MATHEMATICS
Topic of choice: Algebraic Expressions III

Target audience: Form 3

Level of proficiency: High

Learning of objective:
1) Explain the concept of expanding brackets.

2) Describe the concept of factorisation of algebraic expressions to solve problems.

3) Solve addition, substraction, multiplication and division on algebraic expression.

Learning outcomes:
     Students will able to learn:
1) Expand two brackets.

2) Factorise and simplify algebraic fractions.

3) Add, substract, multiply and divide two algebraic fractions with denominators:
- Without any common factor or with common factor.

And the link would be :

Hope my game would be a challenging tasks and give a clear view about how those mathematics questions will be prepared in lessons.

Thank you.

REFLECTION 3

Holla everybaaddyy!! I’m back after a very hectic week. Sorry for the late post my dear friends. My schedule is very packed with my assignments, forums, work, college, dance practices, drama practices and this weekly forum. Even, I got no time to spend some time with my sweet mother, I feel so sad for that. Uwmm.. that’s okay, I’ll handle this, no worries dear buddies.

Well, let me move with my third reflection’s question. I’ve seen most of my friends presented well in the class during the lesson time. Now, I would like tell my opinion about the advantages of two friends of mine who have presented in the classroom and another teaching method which I have disagreed.

   The question:

Two teaching method that you think are most effective based on your friends’ presentation and one teaching method that you disagree as an effective teaching method.

   The answer:

Two teaching method that I think are most effective based on my friends’ presentation are collaborative learning. Why I’ve choosed this is because the students can share ideas among each other to improve their skills. The students can also improve their self-confidence for those who less likely to participate in class. Other than that, for those students who don’t speak out their ideas, this approach can help them to speak out. The another teaching method is that I’ve choosed is creating challenges. Since I am going to teach Mathematics subject in the future, I prefer giving them some challenges tasks which might bring them confident to solve any kind of question no matter it is easy or hard. The more the students overcoming the challenges, they will use to it and can face it anytime easily.

The one teaching method that I disagree as an effective teaching method is group discussion. I’m very sure that not most of the group members will cooperate with others because they will be doing some other work which is important to them. By this, the members will be having some misunderstanding, start arguing and waste their time by having unnecessary discussions.

And now, I would like to come for an ending That’s all about my reflection three. Thank you for spending some time to view my blog and read all of my posts. Take care and have a wonderful day dear people. Love yahh <3

Reflection 2

                                   The misapplication of group discussion

Hi! After a very tiring day I back to the action by posting the another post in my blogger. I've tried my best to do well and completed it as soon as possible. I'm already stress enough to complete my assignments, weekly reflections, forums and blaa blaa blaaaa...

Now, I'll move on with my reflection's answer,

Group discussion will be an activity or exercises carried out by few numbers of students from the range of 2 to 10 members in a group. Most probably the students will exchange and also share informations and knowledges regarding the subject during the group discussion. Group discussion is also known as a technique or a method used for screening candidates as well as testing their potential.

The first misapplication will be class size. The class discussion will be less effective with a class size greater than 20 students. When the class sizes grow, an individual voices become unheard and the opportunity for the class to get off topic increases.

Other than that, time consuming will also be a misapplication of discussion.  While the students exploring the subject during the lesson time, requires far more time to than classic lecturer style instruction. Short class period will not enough for the students to accommodate complicated subject matter or to fully explore a daily objective.

The final one will be off track. Classroom discussions naturally open for the students to discuss between students and the other students or between the students and the instructor. That moment, the students have to cooperate with each other so that the task that given can be done without any problems.

Thank you for visiting my blog. Take care dear people :)

Reflection 1:

Cognitive is one of the most important teaching in school of thoughts.
It has been help to process more difficult concepts or application through building on strong foundation.

There also some negative results that can be found in Cognitive teaching style. First, lack of content prepared by educators in order preparing short points in their lecture such as PowerPoint. This will make the students will not receive information accurately and sometimes they might miss out the important points. So my suggestion is, make sure the educator recheck the points and note prepared for the students before they start lecture in class.

Secondly, repeating the same topics might bring a boredom to students. For example, History subjects are most probably will be repeating the same facts all the time. So as an educator, we have bring out some other ideas or method to teach the same facts in different ways such as videos, quizzes, visiting to historical place and so on.

I hope my opinion and m suggestion will have a god respond to the future educators..,..
Be A Productive Educator..

Thank You.

About myself :)

Hey everyone! I'm very new to this blog ( my very own blog ). Well, I would like to brief about myself in this blog. My name is Naathiya Maniraja. My nickname will be Vaishnavi or Vaishu, it's your wish how you guys going to call me with my 'sweet' name. HHAHAHHA .... I'm 20 years old. I'm staying at Setapak, Kuala Lumpur and I'm staying in a village kind of house. I'm studying at Unitar International University where it was located at Kelana Jaya, PJ. I know it would be far for me to travel to my campus everyday but, no worries! I love travelling and it is one of my way to reduce stress. I'm studying for Bachelor of Education majoring in Mathematics. I know most of you guys dislike MATHEMATICS but, I love calculation.

I created this blog is just because of my lecturer. To be honestly, I was not interested in creating blog but, I got no other option. That's okay, I should always obey my lecturer. My lecturer from Pedagogy subject requested all of us to create blog to post what had been taught in the class, our opinion and so on.

On the other hand, my goals will be :
~ Getting 4 flat for my CGPA
~ Become a good teacher
~ Successful person

Now, lets move to the next question. Why I want to become an educator? erm, why I want to become an educator is because I wanted to educate the coming generation's kids. As we knew earlier, the coming generation's kids will lead the country. So, we should educate and transfer knowledge to those kids in a very correct way. Alas, why I majoring in MATHEMATICS is because I love money, counting, calculating and bla blaaa blaa..Since, money is important , MATHEMATICS should be very very IMPORTANT TOO. before that, I should learn on how to teach or transfer knowledge to students in a simple way so that, they can understand or absorb it easily.

Besides, my philosophy in education is more to pragmatism. First of all, I would like to brief slightly about pragmatism. Pragmatism is a theory that proves itself more successful in predicting and controlling our world. It is also rivals something that can be considered to be nearer the truth. As a teacher,  it will also be like developing and applying practical knowledge and skills for life in a progressive democratic society. Role of students will be like something related to active learning and participations. This would be more fun and interesting for the students to learn during lesson time.

Lastly I would like to tell that, I will definitely try my level best to become a good teacher and educate my students in a proper way. Okay, I would like to end my essay writing over here. I'm extremely sorry if there is a lot of grammatical problems. bye! take care everyone.
